Urban Wedding @ The Hide Sheffield | Groom Prep

Ant and Naomi were married at St Thomas’ Church (STC) Sheffield on a beautiful day. The couple met at the church when they were students at Sheffield University, many of their friends at the wedding were also people they’d met at the church. I’m not a religious person but I’m always in awe of the community that people of faith have around them. My role at this wedding was to capture the groom prep and details of the reception venue. The day started with me again on a train to Sheffield from Leicester, reminiscing about my days there as a student, taking a cab to a road where the groom prep as occurring at an Airbnb, a road I also used to live on.

The groom, his groomsmen, his mum and dad were all there. It was a family affair, and it was lovely. Mum had bought bacon from a farm local to them, and Ant’s brother was cooking bacon sandwiches for all. This was a first for me and I was not complaining! As Nothing happened for some time so I took the opportunity to have a walk around the street to location scout for groom party shoot. It didn’t take long, Sheffield is a lot cooler than I remember.

Groom prep is not much different to bride prep it turns out, just a LOT quicker! They were ready in around 10 mins so I had to shoot fast! Next stop the STC, a beautiful ceremony, 5 large picnic baskets of home made confetti and then my favourite bit of the day, the reception. The reception was at a cool urban venue called The Hide. Inside street food style vans supplying fantastic quality food and beers/wines, they catered for carnivores, vegetarians and plant based people. The wedding breakfast was set up in a beautifully decorated room, table decorations handmade by the bride’s family looked good enough for a film set. The ambience of the room was like a candlelit fairytale picnic set in a forest. Just perfect 🙂
