Newborn Family Photos in Reading Berkshire

I love to photograph my own family because I am obsessed with documenting my families life. From the mundane to the sublime. I love to photograph my then babies first steps to the now photographing them winning running races. Living in Reading – Berkshire we have an abundance of outdoor places which are a photographer’s dream.

There are many places I could suggest to create magical photos with nature’s beautiful backdrops or in Katie’s case and many other cases, photographing the beautiful chaos at home.

I offer newbown and family photography in the client home as children and parents can be more relaxed in familiar settings. The home does not have to be immaculate and you don’t need to have an instaworthy home. You can see from the photograph’s taken in the Berkshire home that items in the background are rarely seen. My favourite lens to shoot on is the 85mm 1.2 which creates a beautiful blurred background, or at Christmas times, can create beautiful bokeh.

Beautiful Family Photography and alternative newborn photography. If you have ever wondered about inviting me to photograph your family at home, then read this and scroll on up to the pictures! When Katie contacted me to discuss her newborn photography, she wanted to document her second baby at home with all of the people that she loved including their beloved dog Mischa! When I asked her what she wanted from her shoot, she said she wanted to have fun and wanted her photos to show that. Katie has a beautiful, quirky home, every room in her house has her personally designed features such as the coat rack made of copper pipes and various plumbing bits and bobs, her son’s beautifully designed jungle bedroom, and her beach hut and cactus themed bedroom, even the garden has a secret section accessible through a lion, witch and the wardrobe style wardrobe!

I was difficult to know what not to shoot at their amazing home, it was styled so well but also had so much personality, each room filled with items that reflected their family of five’s life together. As I entered their house and went to hang up my coat I was mowed down by Mischa who I imagine was welcoming me 🙂

Katie’s eldest son showed me his play room, which was kitted out with everything you can ever imagine, painting equipment chalkboard, arts and crafts paraphernalia, it had everything. I suddenly felt bad for my own son. Next his younger sister arrived quietly taking it all in, she was so new but yet felt like she’d been part of this home and family forever. I had really good fun photographing his room.

I took a few photos in the kitchen with Katie, her husband and baby girl before moving upstairs to take some photos of a typical Sunday at Katie’s home. She changed baby girl into her new outfit as the rest of the family arrived and bundled onto the bed, they talked about something and nothing. I took a few pictures, I’m pretty sure they didnt really notice me photographing their life. Next we moved into Katie’s son’s bedroom. Wow! What a fun room! Katie had clearly spent time sourcing all the essential ingredients to make the perfect jungle themed room, it had a tee pee a sit on dinosaur, the lot!

I found a little bottle of glitter on the window sill in little boys room, I asked Katie what it was. She told me she made a bottle of good dreams to blow into her son’s ear. She’s taken inspiration from the BFG when her son was having nightmares. Katie is such a sweet sweet mummy, what a magical childhood her children will have. I felt emotional (my own baby wasn’t much older than Katie’s, so I’m a bit of an emotional wreck!)

We took a few more photos of little boy playing near the glass medicine cabinet that Katie had bought to house her treasures of strange moth bird animals, toad purses and interesting collectables. Katie got herself ready as we made our way into the garden, and through the wardrobe into the secret garden.

Wow.

More magic. The secret garden had a large playhouse, a boat, a tree and lots of things to climb on and build. All the family had to do was play, I just took some pictures.

Katie came to my house and bought her little girl to the gallery viewing, she watched her beautiful family photographs and couldn’t decide on 25 so took them all.
