Proclamation of the accession of His Majesty The King Charles III took place outside Reading Minster on September 11th 2022. The Principal proclamation of His Majesty The King Charles III took place on 10th September 2022 at St James’s Palace, London, The Accession Council met and formally declared the reign of His Majesty The King Charles III. The proclamation was then cascaded and read throughout the country.
Outside Reading Minster in St Mary’s Butts, the Mayor of Reading, Rachel Eden, spoke to a packed street about the town’s gratitude for the lifetime of service given by the UK’s longest-reigning Monarch, before the High Sheriff of Berkshire marked the start of King Charles III’s reign. The flag at the Town Hall was lowered to half mast following the conclusion of the proclamation service.
