Intimate Weddings at the Roseate Hotel in Reading Berkshire:

The Roseate Hotel in the centre of Reading in Berkshire overlooks the Forbury Gardens, where the Maiwand Lion proudly stands. Locals affectionately refer to him as the Forbury Lion, he is a war memorial, in front of which many have had their pictures taken.  The Forbury Lion created by George Blackall Simonds made an appearance in the Good Doctor.

Victorian town garden – Forbury Gardens is a favourite of mine to capture bride and groom portraits after a civil ceremony at the Reading Town Hall or after a more lavish wedding at the Roseate Hotel. The park is on the site of the outer court of  Reading Abbey, which was in front of the Abbey Church.

The gardens created in the height of the urban parks movement is so special that it is listed as Grade II in the English Hertiage register. Forbury, a suburb of in a New Zealand, was named after the gardens by early resident William Henry Valpy, who was born in Reading.

The Perfect Photographic Backdrop: Forbury Gardens and Crown Court:

Forbury Gardens, with its rich history and features such as the stone fountain and rose garden, provided an idyllic setting for the wedding portraits. The water fountain adds such beautiful texture to the photos, but also provide my wedding couples with some alone time away from their guests to enjoy a quiet moment to embrace the day and take their wedding day in.

The Roseate Hotel stands proud and perfectly positioned in front of the Forbury Gardens. The independant hotel has quite a history to boast, again Grade II listed, the hotel built in 1911 has many original features which are combined with modern decor.

The Roseate Hotel, wedding venue is located within 5 minutes of Reading train station and can be found next door to the Reading Crown Court. The sandstone building of the court makes a beautiful backdrop to couple portraits in any weather. As you can see from the couple portraits below, rain adds to the romance of wedding photos taken in this location.

Bridal Suite at The Roseate Hotel

If you are having a wedding at the Roseate Hotel, do look into the bridal suite. The four poster bed and gorgeous light make for beautiful photos. The room also contains a chaise lounge perfect for bridal portraits and bridal party photography. There is plenty of room for all of your wedding party as well as 2 photographers, a makeup artist and more!
