Yasmin runs an aerial yoga business. By day, she is yoga instructor by night she loves to spend her time upside! She won a competition for a photo session at Brooke Hoyt’s annual pole-athon charity event. Yasmin and I made a connection as soon we spoke on the phone, Yasmin has a lovely way about her, she is young, she is bendy and she is beautiful but she’s also kind and enchanting.
We discussed some ideas weeks before the shoot day. On the day of the shoot, I took a deliberately slow drive to Tadley enjoying the last of the autumn colours and arrived at one of many studios that Yasmin uses. This studio was purpose built for yoga, with underfloor heating, floor to ceiling windows and dormers in the ceiling to ensure maximum light. The room was beautifully warm and the woodland across the field could be seen from where we stood, hanging from the exposed joists were curious looking hammocks, these must be the aerial yoga accessories. They reminded of of baby slings.
Yasmin is in the process of establishing her new business, having recently moved to South Oxfordshire. Yasmin and business partner Janine Bowers are undertaking an exciting project to implement a yoga and wellbeing centre in the Didcot area. The company “Grace & Gravity” will launch in 2017. Grace & Gravity will support growth & wellbeing through a variety of inspirational classes & events including Yoga, Pilates, Aerial Yoga, Aerial Hoop, Acro Yoga & Barre fitness. The sessions will be taught in a friendly safe environment, with helpful, high skilled instructors. Classes are suitable for all ages, shapes and abilities, with sessions available to suit a variety of schedules.
Yoga, Aerial arts and Dance and just a few of Yasmin’s favourite things. From a young age she has been involved in gymnastics and dance, and for 8 years she has explored the world of aerial arts and circus. Believe it or not, she come from a circus family – So it seems her passion to be upside down is in the blood!
Yasmin’s fabulous circus family were known as “The Raymer Brothers”
Through a love of circus she found aerial hoop, which she has been teaching now for many years. She also performs, sometimes incorporating singing too!
Yasmin also enjoys silks/trapeze/pole and added mat based yoga and aerial yoga to her teaching repertoire. She teaches a whole range of ages from tiny tots to elderly, and a vast range of classes accessible to all abilities.
” Yoga has played a huge part in my life for several years now, and my practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and brave, both on and off the mat.
In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I love to teach because I love seeing people grow and develop to reach a goal, or bypasses a physical/mental barrier. This is why I teach. I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing body and mind with all kinds of fun fitness. My hope is that my students leave a session feeling amazing, refreshed and accomplished ” Yasmin Strong
